Amber Hinds | Board Chair
Amber is the owner and creative director of Road Warrior Creative, a online marketing agency in Fort Collins, Colorado. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree from Austin College, Amber worked in graduate admissions at Marist and Bard College. In 2010, she left higher ed to spend more time with her daughter, and began blogging. One website led to another, and what started as a hobby quickly developed into a thriving freelance business. Amber owned and operated her business, Au Coeur Design, for 5 years as it grew from a solopreneurship into a full-fledged agency, rebranded Road Warrior Creative and managed in partnership with her husband.
Amber is self-taught and enjoys the challenge of balancing business ownership, high aspirations, and family. As a founding member of AWE, she is excited to be able to share her successes and struggles with other work-at-home moms and women entrepreneurs. Amber lives in Fort Collins with her husband, two daughters, a cat named Pixel, and sometimes escape-artist dog, Pip.
Andrea Bazoin | Vice Chair
Andrea Bazoin (say “Bah-Zwah”) is the founder and owner of FreeUp, a company that empowers technology users to “delight in their digital lives” through consulting, workshops, and project completion work. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington – Seattle. Prior to launching FreeUp in 2016, Andrea spent the previous 13 years of her career working to increase access to higher education for first-generation, low-income, and underserved students.
As an entrepreneur, Andrea enjoys the freedom to more easily prioritize what matters most to her – being there for her family and sharing her skills and knowledge with the community on her own terms. Andrea discovered AWE and was quickly drawn to its mission to educate and support women-owned business in the community. She is passionate about mentoring others and fostering success through supportive, collaborative relationships.
In her free time, Andrea is a lover of the simplified life. From KonMari to canning, Andrea works to minimize the distractions of modern life (including technology overload) in order to make space for everyday joys.
Carrie Bennett | Treasurer
Carrie worked in K-12 education for 10+ years before earning a Master’s Degree in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from the University of Oregon School of Law. She is the founder and owner of Learning Through Difference LLC and provides facilitation and mediation services to small businesses, nonprofits, and schools. Carrie is passionate about helping groups do their best thinking together. Carrie’s research highlights the challenges of creating truly collaborative workplace cultures and the need to develop systems for basic workplace conflict engagement.
Outside of work Carrie is a backyard chicken enthusiast, retired roller derby skater, and active outdoorswoman. At home, Carrie dotes on her husband Drew as well as a family houseplants. She is considering adopting a fish.
Amanda Armstrong is a librarian and musician. She works for Loveland Public Library as the Business Librarian. In this role, she assists aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners in Northern Colorado with a variety of services, ranging from researching questions to providing website usability consultations. She channels her creative talents in to learning how to swing dance and overseeing the Dance Ambassadors program for Boulder Swing Dance.
Prior to working as a librarian, she held a variety of data and project management roles at DaVita HealthCare Partners over 13 years. She enjoys taking on additional challenges to include working as a wedding coordinating and a Virtual Teaching Assistant for graduate level courses in website user experience and the fundamentals of metadata. Her formal education includes a BA in music from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Milwaukee Wisconsin.
As a member of AWE, she is excited to share her passion for connecting individuals with resources through networking, teaching, and providing research. She lives in Longmont, Colorado with her husband and their two cats.

Jennifer Kalous | AWE Connect Emcee
Jennifer creates beautiful home décor out of upcycled and recycled items through her business The Pink Moose with both an online and trade show presence. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado, Jennifer worked as a high school Physical Education teacher and volleyball coach for 10 years. She went on to earn a Masters of Natural Resources with an emphasis in Environmental Education for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. In Jennifer’s early life her family owned a retail fishing store which brought on her desire to one day own her own business. Upon starting a family Jennifer decided to tap in to her love of crafting and designing home décor starting The Pink Moose in 2014. This has allowed her to work from home providing a great work/life balance. She loves being able to combine her love of creating with her love for taking care of the environment.
As our volunteer emcee, Jennifer leads and facilitates our monthly AWE Connect meetings. Jennifer lives in Severance with her husband, 2 gorgeous daughters, and 2 enormous dogs.
